The Maxima full-size sedan is Nissan’s one of the most successful products, especially in the North American market. Introduced in 1980 as a 1981 model, it is currently in its 8th generation. Which is why Nissan is offering the Maxima 40th Anniversary Edition — based on the range-topping Platinum trim.
The special edition is mainly about visual upgrades, which include two-tone Ruby Slate Gray Pearl exterior color with black roof; black accents, black exterior badges, black exhaust finishers, and exclusive 19-inch gloss black aluminum-alloy wheels.
The cabin features red semi-aniline leather seat upholstery with 40th Anniversary embossing; red contrast stitching, satin dark chrome accents, white speedometer and tachometer faces reminiscent of past Maxima models, and heated rear seats.
The Maxima continues to be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine that develops 304 metric hp (224 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 354 Nm (261 lb-ft) of torque at 4,400 rpm. A CVT drives the front wheels.
The 2021 Nissan Maxima lineup goes on sale in the U.S. market this fall.
