Triumph Motorcycles has launched the MY2020 Street Triple R in India at INR 8,84,000, ex-showroom. The Triple R slots below the Triple RS that was launched in April 2020.
With its twin LED headlights, the Triple R looks fairly similar to the RS except for the paint job, of course. Speaking of which, the R is available in Sapphire Black and Matt Silver Ice finishes.
The Street Triple R is also powered by a 765 cc in-line 3-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, but here the power output is slightly less than in the RS. The output figures are 86.8 kW (118 hp) at 12,000 rpm and 79 Nm (58 lb-ft) of torque at 9,350 rpm; the latter is the same as in the RS. The 6-speed gearbox gets Triumph Shift Assist.
While the front suspension is the same Showa 41 mm upside down adjustable fork, the Triple R loses Ohlins monoshock for the rear. Instead, it is a Showa adjustable monoshock. The twin 310 mm front floating discs with 4-piston Brembo calipers (Brembo M4.32 vs Brembo M50) and a single 220 mm rear disc with a single-piston Brembo caliper setup is similar as on the RS. However, the R also loses adjustable ABS.
The Street Triple R offers 3 riding modes: Road, Rain and Sport.
