The last official update we heard regarding the Mercedes-AMG Project One is that the ‘Project’ has been dropped. I mean, from the name. It would be officially known as Mercedes-AMG One. Last year, unconfirmed reports claimed that the deliveries could be delayed due to some technical challenges in getting the hypercar’s F1 engine to adapt to a street-legal application.
Now though, the engineers appear to have overcome the challenges and the first batch of hypercars can be seen undergoing track testing at the company’s Immendingen proving grounds, with a final powertrain configuration and functional active aerodynamics. Listen to its F1-ish exhaust note. If all goes as planned, the deliveries could begin early 2021.
Mercedes-AMG is yet to confirm the final combined output of the hybrid powertrain, which is estimated to be over 1,000 metric hp.
