As expected, the Bentley Bentayga facelift has now got the Speed variant, packing the same, massive 6.0L W12 under its hood. The Bentayga Speed benefits from all the updates the regular Bentayga received in terms of styling and technology.
As for styling, the distinguishing factors are subtle. These include a slightly taller front bumper, new set of 22-inch wheels (available in two finishes: painted and dark tint), oval-shaped tailpipes, and of course, a large roof spoiler.
Exterior Colours
17 standard colours are supplemented by a further 47 hues in the Extended and Mulliner ranges, with an additional 24 dual-tone options. Those who want to go beyond this total of 88 options can have the paintwork matched to any sample they provide.
Black Specification
Buyers can go for a Black Specification that replaces all the chrome bits with gloss black or carbon fibre versions. The standard roof spoiler is also replaced with a curved carbon fibre version. The roof rails will be in gloss black, as are the 22-inch wheels and tailpipes.
For the interior, there’s a palette of 15 hide colours, six colour splits and eight veneers and two technical finishes. Equipment list includes a 10.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, USB-C ports, and in-car services delivered through an embedded SIM.
Moving on to the business end of the story, the 6.0-litre (5,950 cc) twin-turbo W12 motor develops the same 467 kW (626 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque between 1,500-5,000 rpm. A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is claimed to be delivered in 3.9 seconds while the top speed is 306 km/h (190 mph).
For efficiency and emission reasons, there’s the cylinder deactivation system too. It deactivates one complete bank of 6 cylinders as required.
The active roll control technology powered by a 48-volt system is present as well.
The options list also includes carbon ceramic brakes, which are the largest and most powerful brakes available from Bentley, with a maximum braking torque of 6,000 Nm (4425 lb-ft) and are claimed to withstand temperatures of up to 1,000 °C. They are 20 kg (44 lbs) lighter than the iron brakes.
