[December 2020 update: Nissan Magnite launched in India at Rs 4.99 lakh]
[October 2020 update: Nissan Magnite small SUV debuts in India with big dreams]
Nissan India has revealed the ‘Magnite’ concept that will be launched in the country sometime later this year. It’s a sub-4 metre compact crossover and appears to be based on the same platform as the Triber MPV.
The name Magnite is a portmanteau of the words magnetic and ignite. According to Nissan, the word magnetic highlights the design and features of the product that will attract the customers while the word ignite marks the beginning of a new era that Nissan hopes to bring to India.
As for the design, the front fascia might remind you of the Datsun redi-GO facelift that was recently launched in the country. The grille design, the running lights and even the headlights remind you of the aforementioned Datsun.
The side profile looks pretty interesting with muscular shoulders and squared-off wheel arches. The Magnite looks pretty good in a dual-tone paint scheme with an integrated roof spoiler. At the rear, there are some nice looking taillights with LED signatures.
The Nissan Magnite is an evolutionary leap in Nissan’s global SUV DNA. With cutting-edge technology onboard, it will be a game-changer in its segment. A bold offering in the sub-4 meter category, we are confident that Nissan Magnite will redefine the B-SUV segment for the industry. The Nissan Magnite is made on the philosophy of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ and has been designed in Japan while keeping in mind the requirements and aspirations of Indian customers. – Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India
