Things appear to be going well for Shanghai-based EV startup NIO, as the 50,000th vehicle – the ES8, rolled off the production line recently. The company is manufacturing EVs in association with China’s JAC.
NIO currently sells ES8 and ES6 SUVs in China with cumulative deliveries reaching 46,082 units in June 2020. The company delivered 3,740 vehicles last month setting a new monthly record.
The ES8 and ES6 will be joined by a Coupe-SUV called ‘EC6’, with deliveries expected to start in September 2020. It boasts an NEDC range of 615 km (382 mi), a 100 kWh battery pack, maximum output of 544 hp and a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 4.7 seconds.
Besides Shanghai and Beijing, NIO operates offices in San Jose (global software development), Munich (design headquarters) and London (Formula E and other stuff). The company claims to have offices in 6 other locations.
