Hyundai is happy to announce that the Kona Electric has surpassed the 100,000 global sales milestone in just over 2 years of its launch (March 2018). The electric SUV reached 103,719 units as of June 30, 2020. Sales outside of its home market Korea accounted for more than three quarters of the total.
The Kona Electric offers buyers a choice between a 39.2 kWh battery pack with 136 hp motor and a 64 kWh battery pack with 204 hp motor; the latter initially claimed a range of up to 470 km (292 mi) as per WLTP cycle. It was launched in India a year ago with a 39.2 kWh battery pack and an ARAI-certified range of up to 452 km (280 mi).
By 2025, Hyundai aims to sell 560,000 battery electric vehicles in addition to FCEV models.
