Renault Captur removed from India website

Well, it was just a matter of time and now it’s official. Renault India has finally decided to pull the plug on the Captur and removed it from the official website. At the time of publishing this story, the company offers only 3 products in the country: Kwid, Triber and Duster (1st gen facelift).

The Captur was launched in India in November 2017, more than 5 years after the Duster’s debut in the country. It was based on the same platform as the 1st generation Duster with the same engines, and didn’t really offer any compelling reason for the buyers to choose it over the already successful Duster which had a cult-like following. In addition, it didn’t offer an automatic transmission, which most likely added to its troubled start in the country.

Someone from the marketing team came up with a “genius” idea to involve social media influencers and “Instagram models” to pose with the car and post photos, hoping that the “Millenials” would take notice. As you might have guessed, none of that worked. Most of those Instagram posers had no clue about the car or the automotive industry in general.

As a last resort, the dealers offered massive price cuts too, but the people weren’t interested anyway.

Check out the 2nd generation Renault Captur.
