Peugeot has updated its 308 range with a new digital i-Cockpit, which is a combo of a digital instrument cluster and central infotainment screen. Styling revisions are rather subtle and barely distinguishable.
However, there’s a new three-coat paint called Vertigo Blue. There are new 16-inch Zircon and 17-inch Boca optional wheel designs too. The range-topping trims can get a Black pack option, which exchanges chrome parts to glossy black and gets 18-inch diamond-plated aluminium rims in Sapphire Black with Black Mist varnish.
The big update is, of course, the new i-Cockpit digital instrument cluster with 6 display modes. It incorporates the latest graphics from the recently updated models such as 208 and 2008.
The central touchscreen gets a smartphone-like glossy finish and offers Mirror Screen functionality. Other features include Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, 3D navigation with voice recognition, and TomTom Traffic connectivity.
Safety and driver assistance features include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Automatic Emergency Braking, Active Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Alert, Active Blind Spot Monitoring System, and 180° rearview camera & Park Assist function.
As for powertrains, the petrol engine is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder unit, available in PureTech 110 tune with a 6-speed manual transmission or PureTech 130 tune with 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmissions. The diesel is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder unit, available in BlueHDi 100 tune with a 6-speed manual transmission or BlueHDi 130 tune with 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmissions.
The sporty 308 GTi is also available with a 1.6-litre PureTech 260 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that pumps out 263 hp and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels. The GTi also gets a Torsen limited-slip differential. Download the technical specifications sheet here.
