The Jaguar I-Pace is back in the news after a long time. After all, it was the first premium electric SUV from Europe to hit the roads before the e-tron and EQC. Jaguar has now updated the I-Pace with a number of features including a faster charging capability and a new infotainment system.
The I-Pace now comes with a 11 kW on-board charger as standard, enabling access to three-phase electricity supplies for faster charging. Jaguar claims up to 53 km (32 mi) of range (WLTP) per hour when connected to a 11 kW wall box, while a full charge from empty now takes 8.6 hours.
Owners using 7 kW wall boxes can add up to 35 km (21 mi) of range per hour, with a full charge taking just over 12 hours. When charging on the go, a 50 kW charger will add up to 63 km (39 mi) in 15 minutes, whilst a 100 kW charger will add up to 127 km (78 mi) over the same period, Jaguar said.
Inside, there’s a new Pivi Pro infotainment system, which is a combination of a 10-inch upper and 5-inch lower touchscreens. Jaguar says that it has got a powerful processor that ensures a fast start-up. The navigation uses self-learning algorithms to optimize routing and voice guidance and even knows to remain quiet when you’re traveling through areas you already know. The maps will always be up to date thanks to software-over-the-air (SOTA) functionality.
The Pivi Pro also highlights charging station locations, availability, cost and estimated charging time. The AI can automatically activate certain comfort features, suggest media sources, or who to call based on the routines. It can even remind if the owner has forgotten the phone.
The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster now features revised graphics to give an even clearer indication of battery state of charge, while changes to the predictive range calculation algorithm will deliver a more accurate and consistent range estimate.
Other updates include PM2.5 filtration to capture ultrafine particles and allergens; a 360° 3D surround camera, ClearSight rearview digital mirror that debuted in the new Evoque, and a dual modem embedded SIM (eSIM) and complimentary 4G data plan.
Options include wireless charging pad beneath the ‘floating’ centre console and 16-speaker Meridian 3D Surround Sound System.
The refreshed color palette now includes Caldera Red, Portofino Blue and Eiger Grey. There’s also a wider choice of wheels, with a new 19-inch design being offered for the first time and replacing 18-inch wheels as standard on S trims in select markets.
The I-Pace is powered by two electric motors, one at each axle, delivering 400 hp and 696 Nm (513 lb-ft) of torque. A 0-60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration is claimed at 4.5 seconds. It boasts a 90 kWh battery pack and a range of up to 470 km/292 mi (WLTP).
