British motorcycle brand Triumph has launched the new Street Triple RS in India, priced at Rs 11,13,000, ex-showroom. The styling updates are subtle compared to the previous Street Triple RS models, however, the new one looks a bit more contemporary and streamlined.
Features include twin LED headlights with integrated DRLs, scrolling LED indicators with self-canceling function, updated TFT display with new graphics, MyTriumph connectivity system pre-enabled (ready for Bluetooth accessory), adjustable ABS, switchable traction control, 5 riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport, Track, and Rider configurable), and Triumph Shift Assist quickshifter.
Powering the motorcycle is a BS6-compliant 765 cc in-line 3-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, tuned to produce 90.5 kW (123 hp) at 11,750 rpm and 79 Nm of torque at 9,350 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Front suspension is a Showa 41 mm upside down big piston forks (BPF), adjustable for compression, rebound, and preload. The rear is an Ohlins STX40 fully-adjustable monoshock. Braking duties are handled by twin 310 mm floating discs at the front with Brembo 4-piston calipers, while the rear has a single 220 mm disc with Brembo single-piston caliper.
Engine updates include a new exhaust cam optimised for more mid-range performance, and new higher precision machining on the crank shaft, clutch and balancer, which lowers inertia and reduces engine mass.
The new Street Triple RS claims to be a major step up in performance. It claims to offer 9% higher mid-range torque, and more responsive throttle. There’s also a new exhaust system to complement the performance.
