One of the reasons I believe, the Hyundai Venue became an instant success in India is because it looks like a shrunken, “cute” version of the very successful Creta (1st gen). The other reason is, of course, it has got options for the powertrains.
Speaking of which, the 1.4L U2 CRDi diesel engine which the Venue was originally launched with, has now been replaced by a 1.5L BS6 compliant unit. The 1,493 cc 4-cylinder diesel motor is tuned to produce 100 hp at 4,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque between 1,500-2,750 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Compared with the outgoing 1.4L engine’s output, there’s 10 hp and 20 Nm more.
The 1.2L N/A petrol and the 1.0L turbocharged petrol units continue to remain unchanged. Download the updated Hyundai Venue brochure here.
