Buick has revealed the new GL8 Avenir luxury MPV for the Chinese market, available in three variants initially: the flagship four-seater, and six-seat and seven-seat variants.
The styling updates come from the 2019 GL8 Avenir concept with a diamond-cut sculpted grille and Matrix LED lights. However, the changes appear subtle compared to the previous model.
The luxurious interior gets leather-appointed seats with custom perforation and a foldable table available in the second row of the six-seat variant.
The new GL8 Avenir comes with the latest Buick eConnect 3.0 connectivity technology, including a 12.3-inch driver display, a large Head-Up Display and streaming mirror. Customers are entitled to 100 GB of free OnStar 4G LTE data service every year, Buick said.
Other features include a distinct car door shadow lighting (welcome light), Bose Centerpoint surround sound system and Continental ContiSeal tires.
Advanced driver assistance technologies (ADAS) include Lane Centering Control, Traffic Jam Assist and the steering wheel hands-off detection feature.
Buick hasn’t shared about the powertrains yet. It is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 191 kW (260 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Bookings have commenced in China for a deposit of CN¥6,888.
