TVS Motor has launched its first-ever electric scooter ‘iQube’ in India, priced at Rs 115,000 ($1,612), on-road, Bengaluru. Initially, the scooter will be available only in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The booking amount is Rs 5,000.
As for the design, the iQube sports a contemporary styling but doesn’t throw away any rule books. Unlike the Chetak electric which looks like a Vespa and the Ather 450 which is targeted at young buyers, the iQube appears to please everyone. It still looks like a traditional scooter that would suit a college goer and their parents too.
Features include LED lighting all around, under seat storage, USB charger, and a reverse mode too. The iQube also gets TVS’ SmartXonnect display with features including Navigation Assist and Incoming Call Alerts. Via a mobile app, the riders can check the charge status, statistics and Geofence the vehicle too.
The iQube is powered by a wheel hub motor that puts out 4.4 kW (6 hp) of peak power (3 kW continuous) that is good enough for a top speed of 78 km/h. The motor draws juice from three lithium-ion battery packs; a full charge is claimed to get a range of up to 75 km.
TVS is offering a 3 year or 50,000 km warranty on the battery.
