Sony’s surprise unveiling of the Vision-S electric prototype at the CES 2020 made everyone wonder if the tech giant has plans to enter the carmaking business. The impressive project was led by Izumi Kawanishi, who leads the company’s Robotics Business.
Speaking to a Japanese media outlet, Kawanishi said that the possibility of Sony becoming a carmaker is “not at the moment”. He maintains that the Vision-S is a showcase of the company’s technologies that could be made available to other carmakers. The experimental car is to showcase what Sony can contribute to the evolution of cars.
Apparently, the Vision-S is scheduled to run on public roads (as a demo) later this year.
