It appears that Maruti Suzuki has decided to let go of the Baleno RS as the official NEXA website no longer lists this variant. The Baleno RS is, of course, a variant with a 1.0L BoosterJet engine, targeted at driving enthusiasts.
Although not a “hot hatch” by any means, the RS looked pretty enthusiastic, especially the facelift. Its 999 cc 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine offered just over 100 hp and 150 Nm of torque, and was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The same engine in the international markets offered more power and torque; it was detuned for the Indian market over fuel quality reasons.
As the BS6 emission regulations come into effect in the country by April 2020, MSIL won’t be interested in upgrading the engine due to lack of demand.
