Hyundai’s luxury marque Genesis has revealed a few teaser images of the brand’s first SUV. As with its sedan siblings, the GV80 is based on a rear-wheel-drive platform, while AWD will be optional.
The design language is similar to the 2020 G90 flagship sedan with a large, hexagonal Crest grille at the front. It does retain some of the design elements from the 2017 concept such as the Quad Lamps and character lines on the side profile.
The Quad Lamp, our design signature, introduces an unmistakable visual impression completely unique to Genesis. – Sang Yup Lee, Senior Vice President, Head of Genesis Design
The interior layout looks minimalistic and clean, with a sense of openness apparently inspired by the South Korean architectural aesthetics. The slim air vents stretch across the dashboard while a jewel-like, rotating electronic gear selector adds to the glamour.
The GV80 will go on sale in the home market of South Korea later this month. More details to follow.
