The FAW-Volkswagen joint venture has introduced ‘Jetta’ as a sub-brand in China. The portfolio currently has a sedan and an SUV. Since the market entry in September 2019, nearly 30,000 vehicles were delivered to the customers. Almost 80 percent of those deliveries were SUVs, VW said.
Aimed at young buyers, Volkswagen is offering the VA3 sedan and VS5 SUV under the Jetta brand. Another SUV called VS7 will join at a later date. The VS5 and VS7 are badge-engineered Seat Ateca and Seat Tarraco models, respectively.
Jetta VS5
All models are produced at FAW-Volkswagen’s factory in Chengdu. With a share of almost 50 percent of worldwide deliveries, China is Volkswagen’s largest single market. The brand delivered over 3 million vehicles in China for the second time in a row last year. The company expects to close 2019 once again with over 3 million vehicles delivered.
Jetta VS5
Both the Jetta VA3 and VS5 are offered with a 110 bhp 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission.
