The Shanghai plant is up and running in just under a year; it is the first wholly foreign-owned car manufacturing facility in the country. The plant currently produces Model 3, which starts at 355,800 yuan ($51,000) before subsidies. Tesla will ramp up the production in January 2020.
Tesla is also busy building service centers and charging stations across China.
