The Bolt EV was never sold in the world’s largest EV market. Instead, Chevrolet is offering a much better looking alternative called Menlo EV. It is the brand’s first fully electric vehicle in China.
While the name comes from a Californian city, its stylish looks are borrowed from the FNR-X concept that made its debut at the Auto Shanghai 2017. Its floating roof effect and low slung appearance make it look rather attractive.

The interiors are equally stylish too with the usage of different materials and contrasting colors. Features include MyLink+ 10.1-inch infotainment system, intelligent voice recognition, and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The gear selector lever design was apparently inspired by that of an aircraft thrust lever.
As for the technical bits, it is being reported that the Menlo EV shares its underpinnings with the Buick Velite 6 “Multi Activity Vehicle” – an electric station wagon that is sold in China.

The Menlo EV is powered by a single electric motor on the front axle, developing 110 kW (150 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, drawing juice from a 52.5 kWh battery pack. Chevy claims a range of 410 km (254 mi) as per NEDC; the Buick Velite 6 also has the same official range. With DC fast charging, the Velite 6’s battery is claimed to reach up to 80% charge in 40 minutes.
An official 0-50 km/h (31 mph) acceleration time of 3.6 seconds is not bad either.
The Menlo EV is expected to be launched in China in the first half of 2020.
