Skoda has revealed the new Rapid for the Russian market along with Ru-spec Karoq at an event in St. Petersburg. The prices start at 829,000 rubles (€11,800 or $13,150).
The design might remind you of the Scala hatchback that we saw a year ago. The styling updates are mainly on the front and rear fascias with new headlamps, new taillamps, and new bumper designs. As with the aforementioned Scala, the Skoda logo is in letters at the rear. Also, notice a neatly integrated spoiler lip on the liftback. The side profile looks more or less the same as the outgoing Rapid.
The interior layout too comes from the Scala. We can notice a floating infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a stylish flat-bottom steering wheel. Other features include a heated windshield. More details are expected in the coming days.
The new Skoda Rapid in Russia will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine from the outgoing model, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine offers 81 kW (110 hp) at 5,800 rpm and 155 Nm of torque between 3,800 – 4,000 rpm. For those who want more, there’ll be a 1.4 TSI with 92 kW (125 hp) and 200 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
