Chinese marque Baojun (SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture) has launched the RS-3 compact crossover in the country, with prices starting at RMB 71,800 ($10,220). The RS-3 replaces the Baojun 510.
The RS-3 adopts Baojun’s design language for the SUVs with narrow DRLs positioned at the top while the main headlamp units are on the bumper. The example here features a dual-tone paint scheme with a floating roof effect and an integrated rear spoiler. The rear-end mimics the front with narrow lights connected by a black design element. Nonetheless, the front fascia might remind you so much of an Audi.
Also, notice the BAOJUN word branding on the tailgate. The 16-inch wheels look rather disproportionate or small compared to the rest of the body. If you’re interested to know the dimensions, the RS-3 measures 4,305 mm long, 1,748 mm wide and 1,597 mm high. Its wheelbase measures 2,550 mm.
The interiors are equally stylish too with a flat-bottom steering wheel, a floating infotainment system, and piano black inserts. The RS-3 also gets Bosch’s driver assistance system. GM says that the Level 2 ADAS system covers most daily driving scenarios to reduce driving fatigue, especially during heavy traffic. The SUV’s adaptive cruise control system can be activated at a speed of up to 130 km/h.
Powering the RS-3 is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission.
