Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold a total of 10,203 units in the domestic market in September 2019, registering a decline of 18 percent compared to 12,512 units in the same period last year. The company exported 708 units last month, which is a growth of 25 percent compared to 566 units in September 2018.

However, the total sales stood at 10,911 units in September 2019 as against 13,078 units in the same period last year, a decline of 17 percent.

The consumer sentiment continued to be subdued in September which has reflected in the sales slowdown in the industry. Thanks to the Navratri and Diwali festive sparkle around, we expect the consumer demand to see the much needed revival resulting in better retails. To further add to the festive fervor, we have launched the enhanced version of the Yaris-‘The Happenin’ New Yaris’ and Celebratory Edition of Fortuner TRD. Customers are appreciating the new products with more style and distinctive looks. We would like to thank our customers for their trust in Toyota products. – N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, TKM

TKM hopes that the industry-friendly measures announced by the Finance ministry such as the corporate rate cut from 30 percent to 22 percent, MAT rate reduction from 18.5 percent to 15 percent – in order to stabilize the flow of funds into capital markets, and liquidity improvement will also uplift the consumer sentiments.

“With the Navratra beginning from 29th – 30th September, the customer orders have been slightly encouraging. We hope the pace continues and the sluggishness in sales withers away in the festive season. The industry expects improvement in customer demand in the month of October,” Raja added.
