Bentley has revealed more details on the Bentayga plug-in hybrid that was revealed last year at the Geneva Motor Show. The SUV is now on sale and is priced at £133,100 in the UK, €141,100 across Europe, and $160,000 in the United States.
The 3.0-litre (2,995 cc) V6 petrol engine produces 250 kW (340 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. It is combined with an electric motor that produces 94 kW (128 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The total system output, however, is 330 kW (449 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels.
A 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is claimed to get an all-electric range of 39 km/24.23 miles as per WLTP (NEDC – 51 km/31.7 miles) on a single charge. The battery is capable of recharging in just 2.5 hours, apparently.
A 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is claimed to happen in 5.5 seconds, while the top speed appears to be limited to around 254 km/h (158 mph). Combined CO2 emissions are claimed to be 79 g/km (WLTP).
The Bentayga plug-in hybrid offers 3 modes. While the EV Drive mode is self-explanatory, the Hybrid mode uses information from the navigation system to intelligently optimize power usage from the battery and the petrol engine, giving maximum efficiency and range. In Hold mode, the engine and electric power usage is balanced to maintain the electric range for later use – driving in the city, for example.
Deliveries in the UK and Europe are set to begin in the final quarter of 2019, with deliveries in the United States following soon after, in the first quarter of 2020.
Standard features include full-LED adaptive headlamps with High Beam Assist, LED taillights, 21-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic glass roof, 10-speaker audio system, and air suspension with Continuous Damping Control with 4 height settings.
