Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD) has revealed Cruzio, a new range of buses based on the company’s latest Intermediate Commercial Vehicles (ICV) platform. Mahindra says that the Cruzio marks the company’s debut in the popular Lastwagen Pullman Overhang (LPO) segment of buses.
The Cruzio is aimed at employee transport industry. Features include projector headlamps, side luggage booth, contoured seats for full back support, USB charger, and parabolic suspension that is claimed to offer best-in-class ride comfort.
Powering the Cruzio is a BS-VI ready CRDe engine that produces 140 hp at 2400 rpm and 525 Nm of torque at 1250 – 1800 rpm, paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The clutch booster is claimed to offer a great driving comfort.
The Cruzio features a Driver Information System (DIS) as well in the instrument cluster. There’s also FuelSmart technology with 3 modes – Turbo, Heavy, and Light. More here.
As for safety, Mahindra says that the Cruzio meets the Rollover Test norms as per AIS 031 and the BUS Body code as per AIS 052. It is also compliant with the latest regulatory requirements of AIS 153, which has stringent noise and vibration standards. The Cruzio’s ground clearance is claimed to be the highest in the segment.
Bus operators in this segment are clearly looking for a solution that can balance end-user benefits, as well as helping them optimize costs. I am confident that similar to the Blazo X HCV & Furio ICV range, the Cruzio LPO Bus range will also set new benchmarks for performance, earnings and deliver better value to our customers – Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra Truck and Bus and Construction Equipment Divisions, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Being BS-VI ready, the Cruzio is all set to be a game changer, and is one of the safest, most ergonomic and comfortable buses that will set new standards in the market. Going forward, we will also launch the school and stage bus variants to further increase our portfolio – Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
