Hyundai India has shared an image telling us that the Kona Electric has received 120 bookings in 10 days. The all-electric SUV was launched in the country on July 9, 2019, at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 25.30 lakh.

There were a lot of negative comments on social media as the pricing didn’t go well with the (social media) users, for obvious reasons. The Kona EV is brought to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kit which probably explains the pricing.
Just to compare, US prices start at $36,950 (for 64 kWh, 150 kW motor) and in the UK, the Kona Electric carries a starting price tag of £25,092.50 (for 39 kWh). At its home market in South Korea, the Kona EV sells for 48,615,750 KRW (64 kWh); meaning it’s much cheaper in the US.
The EV is sold in India only through select dealers in the country and only in few cities. In Bengaluru for example, (at the time of publishing this story) only two dealers are authorized to deal with the electric SUV.
The Kona Electric is available only in one variant in India, with 39.2 kWh battery pack and 136 hp electric motor. The range is claimed to be 452 km on a single charge.
