Dodge has revealed the 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat with a new widebody exterior, standard on the Hellcat and available on Charger Scat Pack.
The updates include new front and rear fascias with integrated fender flares, adding 3.5-inches of width over the wider wheels and tires. Speaking of which, the flared wheel arches make room for wider 20-inch wheels shod with Pirelli 305/35 tires. Braking duties are handled by 15.4-inch Brembo two-piece front brake rotors with 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers. Stopping distance is claimed to be 4 feet shorter (107 feet) from 60-0 mph (97-0 km/h).
The Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody also features an SRT-tuned Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping competition suspension, new electric power steering (EPS), stiffer springs, larger sway bars, and retuned shocks. The EPS comes with selectable steering tuning to better manage increased grip, Dodge said.
The springs are 32% stiffer than the previous model, and the sway bars have expanded from 32 mm to 34 mm at the front and from 19 mm to 22 mm at the rear. The spring rates are 27% stiffer on the Scat Pack Widebody.
Charger SRT Hellcat
The Charger SRT Hellcat gets four modes – Race Cooldown, Line Lock, Launch Control, and Launch Assist. The first one keeps cooling the supercharger/charge air cooler after the engine is shut off by running the intercooler pump and radiator fan. The Line Lock engages the front brakes to hold the vehicle stationary, but leaves the rear wheels free for a burnout to heat up and clean the tires.
Scat Pack
The Scat Pack on the other side gets Launch Control, Launch Assist and Line Lock features as standard. Both variants get a 7-inch driver information display, an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with multi-touch gestures, and Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity. The SRT Hellcat gets standard heated, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and standard heated and ventilated Laguna leather front seats.
The Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody is powered by the same 6.2-litre HEMI V8 supercharged engine, producing 707 hp and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, mated to a standard ‘TorqueFlite 8HP90’ 8-speed automatic transmission. With a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h), the Hellcat is claimed to be the most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world. A 0-60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration happens in 3.6 seconds.
The wider Scat Pack is powered by a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 with 485 hp and 644 Nm (475 lb-ft) of torque on offer, also paired to the TorqueFlite 8HP70 8-speed transmission. Power is sent to the rear wheels in both variants. The Scat Pack delivers 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.3 seconds. This variant also features an upgraded, specially tuned suspension with Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping.
