The scenic Hakone Turnpike is one of the greatest driving roads not just for Japan, but also in the world. Toyota is paying tribute to this famous stretch of road with the 86 Hakone Edition.
Based on the GT grade, the exterior is finished in an exclusive Hakone Green paint that is complemented with 17-inch twisted spoke bronze wheels and a black spoiler. Standard features include LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, front fender-mounted vortex generators, color-keyed power mirrors, and chrome-tipped dual exhaust.
Inside, the Hakone Edition gets tan and black Alcantara seats; tan stitching on steering wheel, parking brake cover and shift boot; tan Toyota 86 logo embroidered on the passenger-side dashboard; and carpet with an embossed 86 logo. Buyers will also receive a pair of tan key gloves and folio cover with a debossed 86 logo and black stitching.
Other features include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, and cruise control. Safety features include 6 airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
A 2.0-litre 4-cylinder boxer (horizontally opposed) engine powers the 86 Hakone Edition, offering 205 hp and 156 lb.-ft. (212 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired to a short-throw 6-speed manual transmission, while a 6-speed automatic is also available.
The Toyota 86 Hakone Edition is available in US market in fall 2019 as a 2020 model.
