After making its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV went on to explore the Spanish capital, ending its first urban journey in the port of Barcelona.
Visually, the things that differentiate the EQV from the V-Class, are the EQ-typical grille with continuous LED strip, and 19-inch aerodynamically optimized light-alloy wheels with blue accents. Naturally, the rest of the vehicle looks pretty much like any other V-Class van.
As with the exteriors, the interiors too doesn’t look all that different compared to the ICE-powered V-Class. The “cool aesthetics” of the exterior (blue accents) continue, with blue Nappa leather upholstery and rose gold topstitching – reminiscent of copper wires. Feature list includes MBUX infotainment system with self-learning voice control technology.
Will also be available in 7 or 8-seat configuration
The business end of the story is an electric drivetrain (eATS) on the front axle with an output of 150 kW (204 hp). The cooling system and the power electronics form a compact and integral unit. A 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is good for a range of up to 400 km, apparently. Mercedes Benz says that the premium electric MPV can do a top speed of 160 km/h.
According to the company, rapid charging enables a range of 100 km within 15 minutes.
“Our Concept EQV is the perfect vehicle to accommodate all forms of family and take plenty of gear for an emissions-free ride. And it will not remain a concept for long: The series model will have its world premiere at this year’s IAA,” said Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
