An electric sports sedan to be built in China, for China. Not sure if the Qs Inspiration is exclusive to the Chinese market, but the brand seems to be keen on launching its first electrified model in China. While the concept previews a forthcoming production model, it also hints at Infiniti’s electrified future and the design language as well.
The Qs Inspiration sits on a new flexible architecture, which apparently has been developed specifically to accommodate high-performance electrified powertrains, and it also enables reinterpretation of a traditional three-box sedan design.
Karim Habib with Qs Inspiration concept
When viewed from the side, the Qs Inspiration looks like a Coupe-SUV that went too far, especially the small rear windows and fastback-like styling. The design team is led by Karim Habib, Executive Design Director for Infiniti.
The interiors have a relaxed, lounge-like atmosphere. The panoramic glass roof is covered with a pattern that creates a window grille-like shadow on the interiors. As we can see in the pictures, the concept has steering wheel and pedals, meaning the Qs Inspiration doesn’t fully take away the controls from the driver.
While there’s a large color display just behind the steering wheel, the infotainment system is also angled towards the driver.
Not much information is available at the moment, however, Infiniti says that the Qs Inspiration will offer an elevated driving position and high-performance electrified all-wheel drive (e-AWD) power. The raised driving position offers a clearer view of the road ahead without a raised body to compromise dynamics, the Nissan-owned luxury marque said.
“The age of electrification presents us with an opportunity to renew our credentials as an innovative challenger brand, ready to move quickly and decisively in this growing and exciting area of the market,” said Christian Meunier, Chairman, Infiniti.
