A lot of times, the concept cars we see at Auto Shows end up being just a concept for various reasons. Sometimes, the carmaker doesn’t see its practicality, or the market isn’t ready yet or it just doesn’t make sense to put that into production. However, some concepts are useful despite their production status. Take the first-ever Cadillac CT5 for example, most of its lines come from the stunning Escala concept of 2016.

A 2,947 mm wheelbase and lengthened side glass accentuate the car’s long, low slung and sweeping fastback profile. All four corners of the vehicle features the signature vertical LED strips.

Bright exterior accents and unique grilles and fascias distinguish the CT5 Luxury and Premium Luxury models, while the Sport model is differentiated by darker accents and performance-inspired details, including rocker extensions, spoiler and standard 19-inch wheels.

Depending on the variant, the interiors feature wood or carbon fibre decorative trim elements. Options include 1080p 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, cloud-based natural voice recognition, 8-inch driver information display, 15-watt wireless charging, three USB ports, SD card reader and 2 auxiliary power outlets.

The Premium Luxury and Sport models are available with a Platinum Package featuring an exclusive Sedona/Jet Black motif with Opus semi-aniline leather seating surfaces in Sedona Sauvage. These surfaces are distinguished with a custom, layered fading perforation pattern, contrasting seat piping and decorative chevron accents. Both front, heated, ventilated and lumbar massage seats feature additional bolstering and 18-way adjustability.

The package complements the seats with upgraded leather-trimmed armrests and center console, unique carbon fiber decorative trim and a thicker-rimmed steering wheel with authentic magnesium paddle shifters and alloy pedals, Cadillac said.

The CT5 also features standard Adaptive Remote Start which automatically activates features such as the optional adaptive heated/ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel and other climate systems, depending on the temperature. More options include hands-free power-release decklid.

One of the key highlights of the 2020 Cadillac CT5 is the Super Cruise technology that we read about almost two years ago. It is a driver assistance feature that enables the driver to be hands-free on limited-access freeways in the U.S. and Canada. The system signals the driver if they need to pay more attention to the road. Read more about the technology from the aforementioned link.
