The entry-level hot hatch from Affalterbach now has a Sedan sibling for those looking for better practicality. While the hatchback looks a bit aggressive with aero bits, the A 35 Sedan doesn’t look all that different from the regular A-Class Sedan.
Few differentiating elements include a double-slat grille, standard 18-inch light-alloy wheels or an optional 20-inch, a subtle bootlid spoiler, diffuser and of course, some obligatory badges.
As with all the latest Mercedes-Benz vehicles these days, the interior is as grand as it could possibly be. Grabbing your eyes as always are those turbine-inspired air vents and the MBUX system. The seat covers are available in Artico man-made leather with Dinamica microfibre in black with red contrasting topstitching and red seat belts or in Artico man-made leather in black/neva grey.
The rear headroom of 944 mm is claimed to be the best in the segment. The boot capacity measures 420 litres, and buyers can go for Keyless-Go Comfort Package with Hands-Free Access.
The same 2.0-litre (1,991 cc) 4-cylinder in-line turbocharged petrol engine powers the A 35 4Matic Sedan, producing 225 kW (306 metric hp) at 5,800 rpm and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque between 3,000-4,000 rpm. A 7G dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels via variable 4Matic system. The sedan is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, and top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
As with the hatchback, buyers can opt for AMG Ride Control suspension featuring an adaptive adjustable damping system. AMG Track Pace is also available as an option for the new A 35 4Matic. The virtual race engineer is part of the MBUX system and records more than 80 vehicle-specific data while driving on a race track.
