It seems like Skoda India has sorted out the differences with the Ludhiana-based garment company ‘Monte Carlo Fashions’. The Rapid Monte Carlo was originally launched in India on August 2017, and was later re-named to Edition X after an alleged trademark infringement.
Skoda has now re-launched the Rapid Monte Carlo in India, with prices starting at Rs 11,15,599 ex-showroom, Pan India.
Variant | Petrol | Diesel |
Rapid Monte Carlo MT | Rs 11,15,599 | Rs 12,99,599 |
Rapid Monte Carlo AT | Rs 12,35,599 | Rs 14,25,599 |
As always, the visual treatment on the Monte Carlo’s exterior is tasteful and sexy. It gets a black grille, gloss black ORVMs, gloss black roof, Monte Carlo badge on the B-pillars, black boot lid spoiler, black diffuser, and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Also included are projector headlamps with LED DRLs, and front & rear fog lamps.
As for the interiors, there are piano black accents, Monte Carlo upholstery with red contrast stitching, auto AC, 6.5-inch infotainment system with SmartLink, and stainless steel pedals. Dual front airbags and ABS are standard. The automatic variants get Hill Hold Control and ESC. Rain-sensing wipers are included as well.
No changes under the hood. The petrol engine is a 1.6-litre (1,598 cc) 4-cylinder naturally aspirated unit, producing 77 kW (103 bhp) between 5,200 – 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque between 3,750 – 3,800 rpm. A 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels.
On the diesel side, a 1.5-litre (1,498 cc) 4-cylinder TDI is employed, which offers 81 kW (109 bhp) at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 – 2,500 rpm. Transmission is a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic, sending power to the front wheels.
