In fact, the “new looks” is an understatement. The 2020 Jaguar XE has received a lot more sex appeal in terms of the design. The photos here mostly feature the HSE R-Dynamic variant.
The updates begin with a revised front bumper and a wider grille, giving the car a more planted appearance. Adding to the looks are new, slimmer all-LED headlamps with the signature J Blade DRLs. The LED taillamps are also slimmer and are reminiscent of the F-Type. They come with dynamic turn signals.
Also, Jaguar’s designers have incorporated a number of elements which underscore the attention to detail. An example of this is the Jaguar Heritage monogram pattern, inspired by the D-type, has been laser-etched into the upper surface of the DRL graphic.
The R-Dynamic models include additional exterior design elements including aircraft winglet-inspired sculpted surfaces, dark mesh detailing to the rear valance and alternative wheel styles.

The interiors too have received a major overhaul. There’s a new 10-inch Touch Pro Duo infotainment system and a 12.3-inch interactive driver display, borrowed from the I-Pace. The revised centre console features SportShift gear selector and JaguarDrive Control switch borrowed from the F-Type.
The multi-function steering wheel has also been borrowed from the I-Pace, featuring tactile switches and hidden until lit graphics. Satin Chrome gear shift paddles feature as standard.
All XE models have leather upholstery as standard, with luxurious Windsor Leather and embossed headrests on HSE models. The door trims now feature wrapped, angled grab handles, providing a more tactile and user friendly experience. Door armrests are wider and softer than before.
The new XE also gets ClearSight interior rearview mirror which made its debut in the new Evoque. Wireless device charging and Smart Settings technology also make their first appearance in the XE. The latter uses Artificial Intelligence to learn the preferences of individual drivers and adjusts seat, mirror, audio and climate settings automatically.
More options include Configurable Dynamics system, Adaptive Dynamics, Performance Brakes, Coloured Brake Calipers, Bootlid Spoiler, Heated Windscreen, Heated Steering Wheel, Headlight Washers, Connected Navigation Pro, Online Pack, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Speed Limiter, Head-Up Display, Solar Windscreen, Gesture Bootlid, Keyless Entry, Electric Steering Column Adjustment and more. All these are bundled in different packages.
The entry-level specification features 18-inch wheels, electric leather seats, all-LED headlights and tail lights with updated signature graphics, front and rear park aid, rear camera and lane keep assist.
Which then brings us to the business end of the story. The new XE is available with a choice of Ingenium petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol is available with 250 PS and 300 PS outputs, badged P250 and P300 respectively, while the Ingenium diesel, badged D180, offers 180 PS and 430 Nm of torque. An automatic transmission comes as standard and is available in RWD and torque on-demand all-wheel drive system.
Available to order now, priced from £33,915 in the UK.
