The first-ever Cadillac XT6 made its global debut at the North American International Auto Show. The new three-row crossover expands the brand’s SUV lineup.
The photos here showcase Premium Luxury and Sport trims. The former gets Bright Galvano finish on the grille, side window moldings and on roof rails; red taillight lenses and 20-inch wheels, while the latter gets Black grille with a specific, V-Series-inspired pattern; black window moldings and roof rails. Sport gets 20-inch wheels as standard, while the buyers can opt for 21-inch wheels.
Both models get vertical LED signatures, and standard bi-function LED projector headlamps. Buyers can opt for performance LED headlamp system with a three-element projector array.
Interiors of the Premium Luxury models are trimmed with exotic wood decor, while the Sport features carbon fibre trim. There’s a big list of options, including 14-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system, semi-aniline premium leather seating, in-vehicle air ionizer, automatic heated/ventilated front seats and heated second-row rear outboard seats.
Standard equipment includes automatic heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seat and remote fold-down feature for the second-row seat, and six USB ports (two for each row of seats).
According to the company, the XT6’s rotary controller with jog function is a first for Cadillac and is designed to complement physical buttons and steering wheel controls. It builds on the one introduced on the XT4, adding the jog function to allow the user to tilt the knob — similar to a joystick — to easily navigate between the items on the 8-inch touchscreen display.
More options include NFC phone pairing and wireless charging, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Illuminated Cadillac Crest hands-free liftgate, and Keyless Open and Adaptive Remote Start.
Safety and Driver Assistance
As for safety and driver assistance features, the XT6 gets HD Rear Vision Camera with Remote Wash, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Front and Rear Park Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning as standard.
Options include Rear Camera Mirror with Remote Wash, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Parking Assist with Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, HD Surround Vision, Surround Vision Recorder, Head-up Display, Reverse Automatic Braking, Night Vision, and Hitch Guidance (with Hitch View).
Powertrain
Powering the new Cadillac XT6 is a 3.6-litre V6, producing an estimated 229 kW (307 bhp) at 6,600 rpm and 373 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. For fuel efficiency reasons, the Active Fuel Management technology cuts off two cylinders (V4) when not required. Transmission is a 9-speed automatic. AWD is available on Premium Luxury and standard on XT6 Sport. There are up to four selectable driving modes.
