The 12th generation Toyota Corolla line-up which includes a hatchback and station wagon, is now joined by a stylish new sedan.
As with the other two body styles, the sedan too is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) GA-C platform and adopts the Under Priority Catamaran design philosophy. A two-step execution of the front fender corners flank a powerfully projecting lower grille—a common design theme of the new Corolla family. The slim upper grille has a three-dimensional design and connects with the top of the sharply designed headlamps, wrapping around the corners to emphasize the car’s low-slung appearance.

The rear design mimics the front through the bumper design and the inverse trapezoid design of the trunk lid. The sedan-specific taillamp clusters are connected through a chrome accent, further highlighting the model’s wide stance.
Furthermore, the Sedan gets unique signature front and rear LED light guides. The same extended 2,700 mm wheelbase as the Touring Sports promise ample legroom and high comfort levels for rear-seat passengers.
The interiors are more or less the same as the other two. There are features such as wireless phone charging, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch multi-information display and a 10-inch head-up display.
As for the safety, the Toyota Safety Sense active safety package includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) with pedestrian detection during both day and night time, cyclists detection in daylight hours, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with steering assist, Road Sign Assist (RSA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).
In addition, it introduces a new Lane Trace Assist (LTA) system for advanced driving support. When the full range ACC and LTA are active, the latter assists the driver in steering control with subtle inputs to keep the vehicle in the lane, even on gentle highway bends.
New Toyota Corolla Sedan for the Chinese market
Depending on the market, the new Corolla Sedan will be available with a choice of two powertrains. The 1.8-litre engine with hybrid system develops 90 kW or about 121 bhp. There’ll also be a 130 bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine on offer, available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT.
The China and U.S. markets will get a 2.0-litre in-line 4-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine which develops 169 hp at 6,600 rpm and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque at 4,800 rpm, paired with a CVT.
‘Levin’ is a sportier variant for China.
