Mahindra Group subsidiary Classic Legends have brought back the Jawa brand in India. Two 300 cc motorcycles have been introduced; one is simply called Jawa and the other one as Jawa 42. The motorcycles are priced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-Delhi), respectively.
The design is pretty much a replica rather than a modern day iteration like the Concept KX. However, you do find some modern day bits like the front 280 mm disc brake with a floating caliper and ABS. At the rear, there’s a 153 mm drum brake, probably for nostalgic reasons. Also, notice a tiny LCD display in the analogue instrument cluster.

The Jawa is available in 3 colors – Grey, Maroon and Black. The Jawa 42 has more – Nebula Blue, Comet Red, Starlight Blue, Lumos Lime, Halley’s Teal and Galactic Blue.
Powering both motorcycles is a 293 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, developing 27 hp and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The Kerb weight of both motorcycles is 170 kg, and fuel tank capacity is 14 litres.
The third motorcycle is called Perak, a custom bobber, priced at Rs 1.89 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The Perak is powered by a 334 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 31 hp and 33 Nm of torque. This one gets discs at both ends and unlike the other two, looks a bit more modern.
Bookings can be done online. For the Perak, bookings will open at a later date.
