Mahindra has announced that the company will be launching their Fortuner-rivalling SUV, codenamed Y400, on November 19, 2018. The Y400 is none other than the second generation SsangYong Rexton which was revealed in March last year.
The SUV was also showcased wearing Mahindra badges at the 2018 Auto Expo near Delhi, earlier this year. The Y400 is rumoured to be christened XUV700 for the Indian market.
Similar to the NEXA, Mahindra is also planning a premium retail chain for the Y400, which will offer a premium experience for the customer, with regards to both sales and after sales. The Y400 will be built at the company’s Chakan facility in Maharashtra.
The SUV is expected to borrow the 2.2-litre diesel and petrol units from the XUV500, with a higher state of tune.
Rajan Wadhera, President – Automotive Sector, M&M Ltd. said – “The Y400 is one of the most eagerly anticipated launches of this year. Positioned in the high-end SUV segment, the Y400 is a high-end, full sized SUV that offers luxury and exclusivity in its tasteful design, lavish interiors, thrilling performance and best in class features. We are sure that it will further enhance our SUV portfolio.”
