Jeep has updated its compact crossover Renegade for the 2019 model year. There isn’t a whole lot to talk about the exterior updates though.
Speaking of which, there is a new grille surround, new LED headlamps with DRLs, a new bumper design, cornering fog lamps and refreshed taillamps. Latitude and Limited variants get a new 19-inch aluminum Granite Crystal-painted wheel option. New Bikini Clear Coat, Slate Blue Pearl and Sting Grey Clear Coat exterior paint colors will be available at a later date.
2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk
The interiors get Uconnect 4 8.4-inch touchscreen radio with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto; navigation; HD Radio; Bluetooth connectivity, voice command and streaming audio; and SiriusXM Radio.
New features added include adaptive cruise control, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist Plus and front park sensors. The instrument cluster has new graphics. Options include an 8-speaker BeatsAudio premium sound system, and My Sky open-air roof panel system.
New engine
Replacing the 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit is a new 1.3-litre (1,332 cc) in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine, developing 177 hp at 5,750 rpm and 270 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. The 2.4-litre in-line 4-cylinder Tigershark petrol engine continues to power the SUV, with an output of 180 hp and 237 Nm of torque.
Both engines are paired with a 9-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Renegade also comes with disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit (PTU) to optimize the fuel efficiency of 4×4 models.
As before, the Renegade comes with Selec-Terrain system, providing up to 5 modes—Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud modes, plus exclusive Rock mode on the Trailhawk model.
Speaking of which, the Trailhawk model also gets 8.7-inches of ground clearance; skid plates; signature red front and rear tow hooks; up to 8.1-inches of wheel articulation; Hill-descent Control; up to 19-inches of water fording; and up to 2,000 lbs (900+ kg) towing capacity.
Jeep says that the Renegade is available with up to 70 safety and security features, including the segment’s first availability of Forward Collision Warning-Plus and LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus.
The Renegade was spotted testing in India over two years ago. No official word regarding its introduction in the Indian market.
