Mahindra’s Aerospace division is happy to announce that the company has signed Botswana’s Major Blue Air as its first customer for its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-certified 10-seater turboprop aircraft, the Airvan 10.
Major Blue Air is an existing customer with Airvan 8 in its fleet. The Airvan is mainly used for Botswana’s tourism industry. The landlocked country in Southern Africa has a landscape defined by the Kalahari Desert and the Okavango Delta, and is home to numerous wild animals which all can be experienced from the large windows of Airvan 8 and Airvan 10.

The Airvan 8 and 10 were originally developed by Australia’s GippsAero, the company which now belongs to Mahindra Group since 2009. A new 25,000 sq mt facility in Bengaluru was inaugurated in 2013.
The Airvan 10 can carry 10 people including the pilot. It has a cruise speed of 280 km/h and a range of 700 nmi or about 1,300 km. The Rolls-Royce engine produces 450 hp.
