Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is happy to announce that its “blockbuster SUV” Vitara Brezza has crossed 3 lakh sales milestone since its launch in March 2016. The Brezza is claimed to be the fastest in the SUV segment to achieve the aforementioned sales mark in 28 months.
The Vitara Brezza was specially developed for the Indian market, and takes advantage of the country’s sub 4-meter regulations. To date, the SUV is still offered only with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that develops 90 hp and 200 Nm of torque.
Until recently, the aforementioned diesel engine was paired only with a 5-speed manual transmission. A 5-speed AMT option with few visual enhancements to the vehicle was launched in May this year. The Brezza is a front-wheel drive vehicle and still, there is no AWD on offer.
MSIL said that the 23% of fresh bookings are of the AMT. The top variants (Z/Z+) contribute 56% of total sales. According to the company, Brezza’s market share in its segment in 2017-18 is 43%.

This is a testimony to the fact that customers appreciated the refreshed design and innovative features in Vitara Brezza. The Auto Gear Shift has enticed the aspiration of ever evolving customers. We would like to extend our heartiest gratitude to our Vitara Brezza customers and particularly those who have chosen to wait for their loved car,” said R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), MSIL.
Safety features comprising ISOFIX child restraint system, high speed warning alert, dual air bags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and front seat belt pre-tensioners and force limiters are now standard across all variants. The company added that the vehicle complies with pedestrian safety as well, ahead of Government regulation timelines.
