Not completely sure if Tesla resolved the Model 3 bottlenecks, but they sent an update that the car is now available to order, and no reservation is required in the US. Also, they can deliver in approximately 2–4 months.
The configurator starts with the variant choice. There are 3 on offer – Rear-Wheel Drive for $46,900, Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive for $50,900 and a Performance variant for $61,900. These prices are after incentives & estimated gas savings, and before options. All the three variants are currently offered only with a long range battery that is good for 310 miles or about 500 km. Standard battery option will be available in 6-9 months.
The ‘Performance’ variant too gets dual motors front and rear, but can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds – 1 second quicker than the standard dual motor variant, and can also do a top speed of 155 mph – 10 mph faster. For this variant exclusively, buyers can opt for 20-inch performance wheels, lowered suspension, performance brakes, carbon fibre spoiler and aluminium alloy pedals, all for $5,000. Selecting any other color other than the Solid Black will cost an additional $1000 to $1500.
Optional Premium White interior – $1,500
Not a huge fan of the interiors. I’m one of those who doesn’t like everything shoved into a touchscreen. Nonetheless, interiors include premium heated seating with 12-way power adjustable front seats, 15-inch touchscreen display, dual-zone auto AC and a premium audio system. Other features include Premium Connectivity for 1 year that brings you satellite maps with live traffic visualization, over-the-air updates and so on.
You can also add Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability for $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.
When you add everything that’s available, your bill for the dual motor AWD Performance variant looks something like this. A purchase price of $80,000 (before estimated savings) + $1,000 destination fee.
