Hyundai India recently shared an update that the company will be launching 8 new products between 2018 – 2020 including an Electric SUV, and the Chennai plant is gearing up to produce EVs.
Also, Hyundai India official YouTube channel has shared multiple videos of the Nexo fuel cell SUV, suggesting that the company might be considering the vehicle for the Indian market as well. Could that “Electric SUV” which HMIL MD & CEO Y K Koo was referring to, be this fuel cell EV?
Adding to the speculation is that Hyundai showcased the Nexo at India-Korea Business Summit, earlier this year.
The Nexo was globally unveiled in August 2017 as a successor to the ix35 Fuel Cell EV, but the name and further details were revealed at CES 2018.
Is Hyundai seriously considering the Nexo for India, or just want to showcase the technology? Either way, interesting times ahead!
