Hyundai’s Norwegian division has received an overwhelming demand for the all-electric version of Kona, so much so that they had to close the ordering form for now, due to limited production capacity.
The company said that over 20,000 people expressed their interest in purchasing the all-electric Kona. Those who have expressed their interest before June 1, 2018, will be able to book the car until June 17, 2018. The first customer cars are expected to arrive in Norway in July.
The all-electric Kona was revealed earlier this year, and comes in two choices – 135 hp with 39.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack and 205 hp with 64 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. Its the latter which is on sale in Norway.
The Kona electric 64 kWh ‘Technology’ is priced at 3,25,900 kroner, leather interior costs 10,000 kroner more and adding a sunroof will cost another 10,000 kroner. Metallic paint costs 4,900 kroner.
Reportedly, Hyundai has allocated only 2,500 units for Norway this year, which means a lot of people will still be on the waiting list. The company hopes to re-open the ordering form from July 2, 2018.
