Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe, priced at Rs 2.55 Crore ex-showroom, Pan India. With this launch, the company now offers 15 AMG models in the country.
The new S 63 Coupe was globally unveiled along with its Cabriolet sibling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017.
The 5.5L V8 biturbo has been replaced by the familiar 4.0L (3982 cc) V8 biturbo petrol engine, delivering 450 kW (612 hp) @ 5500-6000 rpm and an incredible 900 Nm of torque @ 2750-4500 rpm. The engine features AMG Cylinder Management cylinder deactivation system.
Transmission is an AMG Speedshift 9G MCT, sending power to the rear wheels. 0-100 km/h acceleration happens in 3.5 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h.
The car is fitted as standard with the controllable AMG Performance exhaust system. The flaps open or close depending on the selected driving mode, but can also be controlled individually with a separate button on the centre console.
Key features of the luxurious performance coupe includes AMG speed-sensitive steering, AMG Ride Control+ suspension with variable damper control, and AMG Dynamic Select driving modes – Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.
Optional equipment includes radar-based driving assistance systems which reduce the risk of accidents –
- Active Distance Assist Distronic: Controls the distance to vehicles in front at speeds of up to 210 km/h, and if necessary brakes the vehicle with up to 50 per cent of the maximum braking power.
- Active Steering Assist: At speeds of up to 210 km/h, the technology helps the driver to keep the vehicle in the centre of its lane on straight stretches of road or slight bends.
- Active Braking Assist: The emergency braking function can help to avoid or lessen the consequences of accidents with vehicles in front and pedestrians.
- Blind Spot Assist: It can warn the driver of vehicles in the blind spot during a lane change.
