According to a social media post, the Ford Aspire production has come to an end. The last unit rolled off the production line at the company’s plant in Sanand, Gujarat, over a week ago.
Derived from the second generation Figo, the Aspire was introduced in India in 2015, as a sub-4 metre sedan to take on the likes of Maruti Dzire. Last year, the company launched Figo Sports and Aspire Sports Edition.
The Aspire was offered with 3 powertrains. The 99 hp 1.5L TDCi diesel with 5-speed manual transmission, the 87 hp 1.2L Ti-VCT petrol with 5-speed manual transmission and the 110 hp 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol with 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. These engines will most likely be carried over to the facelift.
Speaking of which, the facelift is currently under testing, and there is no official word on the launch date yet. However, the company has revealed the Freestyle for the Indian market which will be launched in Q2, 2018. The Aspire facelift might follow later.
