MSIL showcased the Concept Future S at the Auto Expo 2018. No, it isn’t an SUV and Maruti isn’t calling it one.
What they do say, however, is that it’s a “design that smartly integrates SUV features in compact dimensions without disturbing the proportions”. Basically, a hatchback with SUV-like styling.
If that sounds familiar, it is. Think of this as a future rival of Renault’s most successful product – Kwid, which took away some of MSILs and Hyundai’s sales. The second half or the rear-end of the Concept is a clear giveaway.
As for the front design, a white line wraps around the headlamps and top grille, which is expected to be replaced by chrome in the production version à la Ignis. The bumper section reminds of the VW T-Roc.
Not sure if the doors open that way in the production version too. The interiors are minimalistic with generous body-coloured accents. Everything appears to be in the centre console including the instrumentation. Hopefully, there’ll be a heads-up display, at least as an option, so that the driver wouldn’t have to take his eyes off the road often.
Not much is known at the moment, but do check out the video above.
