Mercedes-Benz has unveiled three new AMG 53-series models at the Detroit show, the CLS 53 4Matic+, E 53 4Matic+ Coupe and E 53 4Matic+ Cabriolet.
All the 3 models get a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine, producing 435 hp at 6100 rpm and 520 Nm of torque between 1800-5800 rpm. The engine has a regular exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric auxiliary compressor, making it a “twin-turbo”. For an instant response to the throttle inputs, the EQ Boost starter-alternator is fitted between the engine and transmission which develops 22 hp and 250 Nm of additional figures.
Transmission is AMG Speedshift TCT 9G, sending power to all four wheels via 4Matic+ fully variable AWD system.
The cars get AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, AMG speed-sensitive steering (variable ratio), compound braking system, optional ENERGIZING comfort control, and more.
The CLS 53 comes with 19-inch aerodynamically optimised light-alloy wheels, or 20-inch wheels can be ordered as an option.
The CLS 53 4Matic+, based on the new CLS, will be available in exclusive Edition 1. It boasts the COPPER ART interior design. The leather upholstery in black Nappa also features copper-coloured contrasting topstitching, as do the instrument panel, armrests, centre console, door panels and piping on the floor mats.
Trim elements and the centre console in carbon fibre get the COPPER ART theme and the Performance steering wheel gets an Edition badge to distinguish. The luxurious character is furthermore reinforced by the ambient lighting with 64 colours, the Memory and Mirror package and the exclusive IWC analogue clock.
