Jeep tasted a huge success in India with the Compass, thanks to its attractive price tag of Rs 15 lakh. It was launched in India in July 2017.
The Compass even received a 5 Star rating in Euro NCAP crash test, which also contributed to Jeep earning a big number of customers in India, and one of them is Jayanta Phukan from Guwahati.
He alleges that soon after taking the delivery of his brand new Compass from a local dealer, the front passenger side suspension assembly broke down, which also resulted in the front wheel moving out of its place. He says that he drove the vehicle for about 172 km before this incident happened, and he managed to stop the vehicle safely.
Phukan took it to social media to share his disappointment and also seek some suggestions.
An attractive price tag involves a high percentage of localization. Looking at the photos Phukan has shared, it appears that one of the suppliers who supplied substandard parts has managed to pass the QC.
Feb 2 Update – FCA India will replace the vehicle.
