MSIL doesn’t really have a rival to the likes of Polo GT and Abarth Punto. The 100 hp Baleno RS is not really a “hot hatch” compared to the aforementioned two, which is probably why it was simply called “RS” because the term “hot hatch” is just too much for a 100 hp car.
But anyway, the parent Suzuki does have one. The Swift Sport sold in the international markets is a true hot hatch. Its third generation was unveiled not too long ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
NDTV‘s Siddharth reports that the new Swift Sport is coming to India and will make its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo near Delhi, and is expected to be launched as well along with the new Swift.
The new Swift Sport is powered by a new 1.4-litre 4-cylinder BoosterJet turbo petrol, producing 103 kW (140 metric hp) at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque between 2,500 and 3,500 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed manual which a lot of enthusiasts will appreciate.
Suspension will be stiffer compared to the regular Swift. More here.
At the moment, we aren’t sure if the Swift Sport will be sold via Maruti Suzuki ARENA or NEXA outlets.
